Dr. Gottlieb is a gastroenterologist in San Luis Obispo and Templeton, CA.
Dr. Gottlieb was born and raised in Germany close to the Dutch border. He went to Medical School in Germany (Heidelberg and Bonn) and completed all his postgraduate medical training in the United States. He became a US citizen and joined the US Naval Reserve shortly after 9/11. He currently is a Commander in the Medical Corps.

Until his relocation to California he was a Full Clinical Professor at George Washington University Medical School and on the faculty at the School of Arts and Sciences at Johns Hopkins University.
He is a life member of the Naval War College Foundation, and was elected to fellowship in the American College of Physicians, American College of Gastroenterology and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
In 2017 his wife Monika and he decided to leave Washington, DC, and the biopharmaceutical industry behind, and settle on the beautiful Central Coast of California.
When not taking care of patients he likes to spend time with his family and dachshund Rudolph, read crime novels, or ride his Suzuki SV650.
